Dani and Luka. A Monday wedding on a gloomy October afternoon.
I remember reading the e-mail over and over again, checking the calendar along the way. October 10th. Monday. Not impossible of course, but somewhat unusual. Just to make sure, I replied asking if it really was Monday. Yes. A Monday wedding. As I was confirming my availability, I felt a rush slightly more intense than usual. Untraditional weddings have a special place in my heart. Often, weddings seem to be a set of events, guest lists and traditions that have little to do with the people getting married. So, just a slight deviation from the norm made me a tiny bit extra happier wedding photographer.
The day was gloomy, windy and rainy, a true chilly October. They chose the date because they’ve been together for 10 years, so 10th October was the only logical choice. Instead of wedding rings they booked a month long backpacking trip to Nepal. They double celebrated because the maid of honour had just got engaged. Just the closest family, maid of honour and best man. The groom started saying ‘yes’ before the city official had even asked the question. Ten years together, and Luka couldn’t wait a minute more to make Dani officially his. I’d say they made Monday the best day ever.
